About: While applying the decolonial option has sparked criticism in academia and beyond, the postcolonial theory has also been labeled as confusing and with no means to influence political life. However, this collected volume follows the efforts to engage the currents of postcolonial and decolonial theory and apply them to the problems surrounding the growing interest in former socialist countries. The different chapters show the potential application of postcolonial theory to former socialist states, especially the discrepancy between “the promise of the transitional paradigm” and the implementation of the policies of Europeanization in Southeast Europe.

 

Sanja Petkovska is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Criminological and Sociological Research in Belgrade, Serbia. She defended her doctorate in 2017 at the Faculty of Political Sciences on the Impact of Globalization on Research Policy and Research in Serbia: Values, Discourses and Institutions. In 2017, she joined the international academic network Dialoguing Posts, which was founded to connect postdoctoral fellows interested in the topic of studies of post-socialist countries.

 

Naum Trajanovski is an Adjunct at the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Warsaw, Poland. He is a sociologist interested in historical sociology, the history of sociology in East Central and Southeast Europe, nationalism and memory studies. He recently authored a monograph on the history of Macedonian sociology (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024).

 

Łukasz Moll works in the Institute of Sociology at the University of Wroclaw. He is a philosopher, sociologist, and editor of Praktyka Teoretyczna scientific journal. He published articles on theories of the commons, political philosophy of the rabble, and the idea of Europe.
