2025-03-13
Members of the POSTCOMER Agata Domachowska and Francesco Trupia took part in the meeting of the Polish Commission of Balkan Culture and History (AIESEE).
They gave a lecture on "Post-Memory Culture and Politics in the Valley of
Albanians in Sicily".
This project investigates the post-memory culture and politics in the "Valley of Albanians" – Italy’s most famous municipality home to the Arbëreshë community.
It precisely looks at how post-memory generations recollect and care about the events of the Portella della Ginestra massacre of 1947.
- How do young Arbëreshë, if at all, remember the massacre of 1947?
- Which are the old and newer venues for exploring the local memory?
- What does the post-memory recollect about the identity, language, and sense of belonging to Arbëreshë culture?
